Caring For Your Artwork
Placement
Please consider the following when placing your artwork:
1. Direct sunlight
Where possible try to avoid placing your artwork in area of prolonged direct sunlight, as this may degrade the surface, bleach or discolour your artwork.
Please consider using frames with UV-protected glass. Any quality specialist framer will be able to advise on suitable options.
2. Temperature changes
Frequent or large temperature fluctuations can be damaging to artwork, as can high levels of humidity or damp. Be mindful when placing artwork in rooms with potential for this including kitchens or rooms with open fires or radiators.
3. Moisture
Some artwork, especially those on paper, may not last in environments such as a bathroom. Ensure good ventilation to avoid mildew and surface damage. Any quality specialist framer will be able to advise on suitable options for properly sealing the frames to prevent moisture getting in.
Cleaning and maintenance
1. Dust
Dust your artwork regularly. For framed works or pieces with hardier surfaces use a dry, soft white cloth and for paintings with heavy texture or fragile surfaces, a soft white brush is better. A new, unused make up brush would work just as well.
Never use chemical cleaning products or water to clean your artwork. If the piece needs a thorough clean, please contact a specialist to avoid causing any repair issues or irreversible damage.
2. Damp
Periodically check your artwork for signs of damp. If present, discolouration and distinctive brown marks are most likely to start appearing on the back of your artwork.
3. Regular checks
Remove your artwork from its positioning on a regular basis and check for any issues.
Thank you for purchasing from MISSNISAA. We hope the tips above will help to ensure you enjoy your artwork for many years to come.
